Changing Seasons: A time for everything

You would be forgiven for thinking that my little corner of cyber space had laid dormant for a while, and that maybe I have forgotten that at some point or another I decided to start a blog. Well, it might very well look like that but you would be mistaken, honest!

I am very much still here, alive and kicking! You might have seen me being (slightly) more active over on Instagram, and I've recently fallen in love with Twitter again, but yes, my blog posts have been sadly lacking. But you'll be pleased to know that they are not gone for good.

God has been putting some things on my heart recently about my priorities, my dreams, the direction he wants to take me, and some of the things that have been sitting in the back of my mind for a number of years. This blog, my writing, is a huge part of that picture. But whilst it might have been a bit quiet around here, behind the scenes God and I have been working on some stuff.

And it's made me realise how much I rely on seasons, and that when God says there is a time for everything, he really does mean it. I might not have been writing epic blog posts left, right and centre, but God has definitely been preparing me for this journey I'm about to embark on. He's been strengthening my relationship with Him, encouraging me to dig deep in His Word (I am still working through my Bible in a Year plan - a bit behind, but chuffed to bits that I'm still going!), and speaking to me about various areas of life.

And now, I really do feel like it's time to begin again.

The best thing about September, of course, is the new academic year. It doesn't matter how many years ago I left school (ahem!), I will never tire of that new year feeling at the beginning of September. But September also brings with it a shedding of dead leaves, if you will, and God has been speaking to me about some conflicting priorities and how I might need to lay some things down to make this dream a reality.

Of course, time and structure have a massive part to play - but guess what? God has made room in my life and given me a nudge. You see, my husband is returning to his studies, so whenever he is studying (up to 18 hours per week), I will be writing. You are welcome to hold me to that.

And so, I'm learning that if you are working outside of God's seasons, you will only end up striving, burning out and not getting very far. But if you go with His flow, work with His seasons, then not only does everything fall into place and have an ease to it, but God has a way of making room, clearing the way and multiplying your efforts.

Watch this space, because I've got so much to share and I hope it will be of an encouragement to you.
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted..." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
What season are you in right now - are you sowing or reaping? How can you rest in God's timing? Do you need to shed some dead leaves during this season? Let me know in the comments, or join the conversation on Twitter!

  1. Maybe I need to have a spiritual clearout - an autumn clean, if you will...
